Nothing but the Story

I am feeling very sleepy these past days, and I have no idea why.

The best thing that happened today was I finally had something happen to my protagonist for Tuesday's story. Before, he had nothing to do in the story but to follow the plot. He didn't even change any point of view by the time the story was over. Now, he shifts from an apathetic artist to a person with a sense of purpose, all while not being corny (I think). I'll have a lot to rewrite today.

Nearing the Deadline

The story deadline is on the 28th. The concept is fixed, and the first draft is being produced. This is the stage where everything you write seems wrong and illogical and you have to shut the internal critic up, who can't stop telling you that everything's wrong.

He's right, you know.

The stall near the office is officially closed, the attendant informed me yesterday. She now helps in another stall that sells affordable meals.

More than meals, I need more books. Heck, I need to go back writing.

Getting Paid

Finally, payday. Not Valentines, payday. I don't have to go hungry tomorrow.

Or maybe I do. I already told you about the restaurant that became a shoe store. There's a stall in the Food Strip (I think that's what it's called) near the office where I buy my lunch, and it hasn't opened yet. I wonder what happened there.

I might be reading poetry Friday next week in Powerbooks Greenbelt 4. I say might because I was informed that I was to receive an email telling me what I am supposed to do exactly. I haven't received it yet. It took me an hour to get that information; that's how slow our internet connection is. You don't spend an hour to check emails! I have decided to access the internet through internet cafes. It costs a lot, sure, but right now, I lack time rather than money.

Don't get me wrong. I don't have that much funds. Compared to the available time I have to spend on writing and other stuff though...

Dreams Must Come True

Finish coloring comic book pages for Melchman's Stuff
X FAILED! Finish Dragon Fiction story
Finish comic book script for contest
Finish short story for contest

I finished the script in a month. Talk about being a perfectionist. It's up to Master Melch to do the comic book pages and, we'll win.

I've spent a lot on food this week. I thought about going to one of my favorite restaurants in town and was surprised that it was converted into a shoe store! I was there a few months ago! I have no idea what happened; I should have asked the owner.

Work is a little bit slow today, which is good because I can catch up on my reading. Everybody did. The office had the feel of a library, which is good. Birds of the same feather and all that.

I went to the opening of Ingles Manila,an English review center in the Makati area. It's amazing how long we haven't seen each other, and what we've achieved during that time we were all apart. Kudos for a successful opening and I do hope things will go well for them.

Second Month of the Year

This happened a few hours ago, on my way home. I looked back from my seat on the bus and saw a son kiss his mother on the lips. The first thing I thought was that they were close, then he looked at her breasts.

You do not, for any reason at all that has nothing to do with science, look at your mother's breasts.

I had to redo my assumption and declare them lovers. It happens, although rare. Then I remembered it was February.

I didn't bother to find out if they were mother and son AND lovers. It happens as well, although rarer, and I would not know what I would do if they said yes.

The book signing for the book, Sa Kabila ng Ritmo, was a success last Saturday in Powerbooks Greenbelt 4. I met a high school friend there who used to draw comics. He writes poetry now, to my surprise, and works at a nearby call center as a trainor. It's strange that we're both working now; I can't help but think at that time that we were still both in high school.

Prologue

The entries written here are based on true stories. Whenever possible, non-factual events and situations are labeled to distinguish the real from the imagined. Yes, sometimes the author can tell the two apart.
